Details
The event was hosted by surfing England and held at Croyde bay in North Devon, a beach break renowned for long, clean left and right hand waves in good conditions but also its uniquely protected from north to south winds which allows it to still be contestable even in less-than-ideal swell and weather where other beaches aong the coastline are more acutely effected
Our event set up was positioned along side Rip curls tents next to the sea wall rather than along side the judges at the high tide line (this was a decision made due to high winds) and was still close to the action at high tide as well as being well positioned interaction with spectators and visitors to the beach.
The weather through out the event was extremely varied but high winds and rain did prevail on day one and into day two, only clearing up for prize giving late on day two. This resulted in less members of the public on the beach than in previous years and therefore less opportunity to activate smaller “side quests” with the spectators such as beach clean and volleyball which were initially on the cards had the weather been more consistent
